Canyon - Kloof Gorge 27 March 2004
"This last weekend saw some of our club members frying at the Canyon in Kloof gorge. On Saturday 27 March 2004 Angus McFarlane managed to redpoint "Viper" (27) at the "This and that" wall, he was ably belayed by Scott Sinclair. The next day saw a huge influx of members at the crag and with temperatures soaring into the 30's a surprising amount of climbing was done. Brett Daly, Dale Braum and Chris (bandana man) Bahlmann all posed for photo's on "Magnus Powermouse" (23) with Chris coming desperately close to snatching the redpoint of this awesome route. Dave Drummond redpointed "Viper" (27) with ease (extra points for the heat factor ?) and once again the redpoint belayer was Scott Sinclair. Trent Burnett was also there and joined Scott in sweating up "Vampire" (27) to train for an upcoming trip to Watervalboven . Watch this space, Trent should be sending "Vampire" in the near future !!"
