PowerHouse Meet 30 May 2004

A roundup of the weekends news...

As usual the big sends go to Trent "Dogleg" Burnett and Angus "Divot" McFarlane who both redpointed the awesome "Beta Master" (27) at the Canyon on Friday afternoon while the rest of us slobs were working or studying. Nice work guys, it looks like the next road trip should be a goodie!

Sunday saw a decidedly chilly joint MCSA and UKZNMC meet at the Powerhouse with Sandy, Donna, Angus, Errol, Scott, Trent and Bastion attending. Once again the day belonged to Trent and Angus who both onsighted or flashed every route they tried. Angus (proving that he does indeed have b@##s of steel) started by soloing (the bolts are dodgy) a classic grade 12 and went on to onsight the ever so slightly runout "Don't step on dogshit" (21) on more solid bolts this time, Trent flashed both these routes. Scott managed to onsight the oddly named but awesome grade 20 "All foreigners, especially the French", while Angus and Trent flashed the route. Trent also managed to onsight a pumpy (21) and dusty (16). Bastion also climbed the 16 as did Sandy and Donna and Errol. Not to be outdone by the boys Donna and Sandy bravely soled the 12 with surprisingly few complaints!

The meet was cut short due to arctic conditions which Bastion had not prepared for, arriving in shorts and a t-shirt (zzose crezy garmins!). Sitting by the fire at Stokers was much more fun "Engelund, Engelund, Engelund...Engelund, Engelund, Engelund...Engelund, Engelund, Engelund...Engelunddd SUCK!!!" Up the Barba's hic!

Meanwhile in the Lab a pair of maniacs work on secrect projects. Dave "gnarly" Drummond was checking out the moves on "Electromagnet" (28) while Chris Bahlmann worked "Cold fusion" (26). What will come of this crime against nature? Watch this space for redpoint madness...

Good luck for exams to those who are writing them! To those who missed out on a great meet "Sorrie 4 yoo!"

Cheers, Scott
